You can search for unclaimed money on the Rhode Island website. There are 60,000 plus accounts in this data base with accounts dating back to the 1940’s. Online search results show the owner name and address. Searches by phone and written request can occur through this office as well. In addition to an online search, the Unclaimed Property Division prints the names of owners for the current year (only) in RI newspapers each spring. They also visit community and senior centers in attempt to educate the public about unclaimed funds. Their site offers a related link page, a FAQ section and instructions for holders of unclaimed property.
